Biomedical & Biohazardous Waste Disposal in Moncton

Moncton is located in the Petitcodiac River Valley at the geographic centre of the Maritime Provinces. With a city population of approximately 75,000 and a greater metropolitan population of approximately 150,000. Moncton is the largest city in New Brunswick and one of three major urban centres in the province, along with Saint John and the capital city of Fredericton.

Tourism plays an important role in Moncton's economy and owes much of fame to the presence of two natural attractions. The first is the tidal bore of the Petitcodiac River, a wave that "bores" its way upstream against the normal downstream flow of the river on the leading edge of the incoming tide. In 2013, surfers rode the incoming bore a record-breaking 29 kilometres. The bore results from the extreme tides of the Bay of Fundy, which regularly produces a high/low tidal range of a stunning 13 meters.

The second and more popular natural attraction that draws tourists to Moncton is the optical illusion of Magnetic Hill, which sits on the city's northwest outskirts. Magnetic Hill is an example of a gravity hill, a type of optical illusion created by rising and descending terrain resulting in the impression that a road traveling uphill is really traveling downhill and vice versa. To experience Magnetic Hill today, drivers must pay a fee to drive their cars to the end of the road (which has been preserved).

Within the healthcare sector, Moncton is served by both the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre and the Moncton Hospital, both of which operate as tertiary care referral hospitals for New Brunswick as well as neighbouring regions of northeastern Nova Scotia and the province of Prince Edward Island.
