Colour coding keeps waste streams separated at a glance. In Canadian healthcare facilities, sharps go into yellow containers, cytotoxic waste goes into red containers, and pharmaceutical waste goes into a dedicated, clearly labeled pharmaceutical waste container, sometimes called a medication waste container or pharmaceutical waste bin.
